Bergin, Norway June 27 2015

Today we arrive in Bergen, Norway.  It is going to be hard to have a more spectacular day today than from Olden yesterday.  I still can’t get over how breathtakingly beautiful it was.

Today Pete, Faith and I are going on the Hardanger Fjord with Lunch.  It is a full day ( 7 to 7 ½ hours) and we are going to spend lots of time on a bus and we get to ride a ferry today!  They are building a second train line into the city.

First we are on the bus for approximately 75 minutes as we see scenic Bergen as we head towards Bridal Veil Falls.  The falls are named after a couple who were killed at the falls because they were driving their car too fast on the mountain rode.  They missed the curve and landed right in the falls and when the authorities pulled the female body from the wreckage, they found the bridal veil in the car.  Her husband, was thrown from the car and found in the falls.

Next we head to Steinsdalsfossen waterfall and hike up the Tokagjel gorge.  We get to see the backside of water here.  (much grander than the backside of water on the Jungle Cruise LOL).  The weather is perfect, however just a little cool with all that cold mist of water coming off the falls.

Now we head to lunch at the local hotel in Oystese.  We are served a Norwegian hot and cold buffet lunch.  There are lots of varieties to choose from and the lunch is quite good.

We have some free time to explore the town and walk around the lake before we continue on our journey.

We continue on small one lane mountain roads and learn about each little village as we drive through heading towards the ferry for a ride across the lake to head back to Bergin.  We end up in the little town of Os to catch our 3:30 p.m. ferry ride.  The ferry ride is only 10 minutes long, but cuts hours off driving all the way around.

Our tour guide for the day is awesome, having great knowledge of the area.  He points out the historic Hanseatic Merchant houses, King Haakon’s Hall and the Rosenkranz Tower, the Fish and Flower Market (which he says locals would never go to this fish market, it is the tourists that go here), the City Park and the Grieghall.

Before you know it, we are back to the ship at 4:45 p.m. and another long day of sightseeing is done.   This was a lot of packed information and scenery into one long day.  We were on the adult only departure and it was great.  Not sure that this is the right excursion for children as it is a long day on a bus and intermittent stops.  I would recommend the Iconic Train and Bus tour with children that we did two weeks ago if I had to choose between the two.

Sailaway is delayed because there is a private Disney excursion with a chartered vehicle that is late getting back to the ship.

Tonight in the Walt Disney Theater we are seeing Adam and Kelly Jacobs.  Adam is known for his critically acclaimed performance as Aladdin on Broadway, and Kelly for her performance of Mary Poppins.  Adam also played Simba in the National Touring Company as well as on Broadway.  They tell their story, about how they met and married and their twin boys.  They sing lots of Disney tunes and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Next we are off to Freezing the Night Away with Anna, Elsa and Friends.  It is a little cool on deck 9, but definitely the best weather we have had yet.

Now, we head to dinner in Animator’s Palate as it is the Drawn to Magic show tonight.  We all draw our puppets and turn them in.  We order off the special Frozen menu for the evening.  The meal is delicious.  For dessert there were so many items to choose from we had them all.  We all left and Pete was still eating. LOL

This is Olaf's dessert.  It is a dome with Carrot Cake inside.  It is delicious.

Yep, this is truly what our table looks like at the end of the night.

Pete is not allowed to leave until he finishes his dessert!

Then it was off to Fathom’s to see Hector is Magic and then Club Frozen where they have four of the Walt Disney Dancers come dance and then they pour drinks on the Frozen Luge and have appetizers and desserts.  The club is quite busy.  I still am amazed at how Hector does his magic.  I am truly enjoying his shows on the Disney Magic and he has quite of variety of things he has done, so it is not repetitious.  His close up tricks are incredible.  I can't see how he does it.

Next door in O’Gills, they have two more Frozen ice sculptures, one of Olaf.  Plus more food!  If anyone is going around hungry on this ship it is their own fault.

It is now going on midnight, still light outside, the sun has just set and is due to rise again at 4:13 a.m.  Tomorrow is a much welcomed sea day.  I hope the weather is as nice tomorrow as it has been for the last two days.

Considering Bergin gets 315 days of rain per day and we had no rain today, we are definitely enjoying the Mickey bubble!

Until tomorrow, goodnight from the Disney Magic!
